Analyst

BD Partners is looking for a highly motivated person to join their dedicated investment team. The person will play a crucial role in the entire investment cycle – identifying, evaluating, and managing investments in innovative and high-growth companies.

ABOUT BD PARTNERS

BD Partners is the investment office of JP and Ladislav, who both have been long-time executives and shareholders in PPF before they started BD Partners in 2023.

Lada is one of the founding members and long-standing shareholders in PPF, where he held a key leadership role until 2023. Throughout his career, he has led investments and served as CEO in various industries, including insurance, banking, biotech, telecommunications, and media. His success can be attributed to his ability to develop well-defined strategies, foster international growth, achieve solid operational and financial performance, and engage in successful M&A activities. Lada, who is Czech, is happily married and has three children. In his free time, he collects Czech contemporary art and enjoys playing tennis, snowboarding, skiing, and kite surfing.

JP worked with McKinsey in the US and Europe for nearly 18 years, serving as the Managing Director for CEE. In 2010, he joined PPF as a shareholder. Throughout his career, he has held advisory, investment, and CEO roles in various sectors, including retail, banking, insurance, manufacturing, and real estate. He has served on the boards of couple London-listed companies and gained personal experience in IPOs, M&A, and funding. JP is both French and Belgian, married, and has five children. In his leisure time, he enjoys playing tennis, skiing and running. Additionally, he has a strong passion for education and has served on the board of trustees for several international schools.

Our team consists of seven people, of which the investment team is five people, including the two partners. Our way of working is hands-on with everyone having their responsibilities. Our office is in Prague, however, the place from where we work is flexible.

Until December 2024, we invested in >15 start-ups and only plan to accelerate. We have the benefits of enjoying high flexibility since we only invest capital of the two partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE JOB

• Participate in events and conferences; bring and build your own network and your own deal flow.

• Identify and evaluate potential investment opportunities.

• Conduct thorough due diligence, including market research, financial analysis, and technical assessments.

• Drive negotiations and structuring of investment deals and exits.

• Monitor the performance of portfolio companies and provide sparring to drive their growth and success.

QUALIFICATIONS

• University degree in technical field. An advanced degree can be a plus.

• 3-5 years of professional experience, preferably in a technical role in a fast-paced environment. First experience in venture capital and/or AI is beneficial but not required.

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to conduct detailed technical and economical evaluations.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with different stakeholders.

• Proven ability to work effectively in a small team environment, independently, demonstrating flexibility and a collaborative spirit.

• Passion for technology, innovation and investments, with a keen interest in emerging trends and market dynamics.

Role Overview

The Investment Analyst – Capital Raise will be instrumental in supporting fundraising efforts for 16vc and our portfolio companies. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of venture capital and capital markets, contributing to the firm’s growth strategy while helping innovative startups secure funding.

We are looking to fill this position immediately, though we can accommodate holiday leave for Christmas and New Year if needed.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising & Capital Raise Support

• Assist in fundraising efforts for 16vc by preparing marketing materials, including Fund 1 presentations, financial performance reports, and investor pitches.
• Identify and engage with potential investors, including Limited Partners (LPs), family offices, and institutional investors.
• Track and manage investor relationships, ensuring timely follow-ups and communication.
• Collaborate with leadership to refine fundraising strategies and meet Fund 1’s $50M target

Portfolio Capital Raise

• Partner with portfolio companies to develop fundraising strategies and materials, including pitch decks and financial models.
• Research and connect with venture capital firms, private equity groups, and other funding sources for follow-on investment rounds.
• Support term sheet negotiations and provide strategic advice to portfolio founders during funding discussions.

Investment Analysis

• Conduct due diligence on potential investment opportunities, including financial modeling, market research, and competitive analysis.
• Provide detailed reports and recommendations to partners regarding potential deals.
• Stay informed about market trends and funding landscapes relevant to 16vc’s focus areas.

Reporting & Analytics

• Create regular updates for internal stakeholders and external investors on the performance of Fund 1 and portfolio companies.
• Analyze key metrics to track fundraising progress and identify areas for improvement.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; MBA or CFA is a plus.
• 2–4 years of experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, or fundraising roles.
• Strong proficiency in financial modeling, capital structuring, and valuation techniques.
• Knowledge of venture capital ecosystems and fundraising strategies.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for investor relations.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in SaaS, fintech, healthcare, or other tech-focused industries.
• Familiarity with fundraising tools, CRMs, and data visualization platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with high-net-worth individuals and institutional investors.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
