Bullpen Capital is a Post-Seed/Series A fund that focuses on overlooked companies left behind by Silicon Valley fads. Operating out of our sixth fund, Bullpen invests across sectors including healthcare, fintech, SaaS, consumer, and gaming. Our portfolio includes AllCityNetwork, Brightside, FanDuel, OneRail, and Splitwise.
We look for companies with great founders and strong product-market fit in categories that don’t seem like obvious wins.
What We’re Looking For
As an analyst, you’ll be on the front lines. The core of this job is evaluating new investments—identifying compelling opportunities in areas familiar and unfamiliar, fielding inbound deals, and sourcing others.
We gravitate towards scrappy individuals who are self-driven and motivated by curiosity and the propensity to learn. Your background doesn’t matter to us as much as traditional VC. We’d like to see candidates from all walks of life as Bullpen employees across the firm come from non-traditional backgrounds.
Skills and Qualifications
- You have strong project management experience and can set and meet deadlines independently. You’ll be expected to manage the end-to-end diligence process for multiple companies coming through our pipeline simultaneously.
- You’re highly collaborative and have excellent relationship and interpersonal skills. Although many elements of this job require a self-starter mentality, you’ll be interactingwith every member of Bullpen’s team and tapping into our network of founders andadvisors.
- You have a passion for startups. You’ll do some deal sourcing by attending demo days, industry events, networking with other investors, etc.
- You value learning. Whether you’re doing a deep dive on a new sector or putting together a competitive analysis for a potential investment, having a propensity for learning is critical to becoming a great investor.
- You’re a strong communicator and can distill large amounts of information and persuade others to your point of view.
- You have a bachelor’s degree in any field.
- You have 1-3 years of experience in analytics or operational support.
- You have 0-3 years of experience in deal flow. This position is an apprenticeship at its core and prior investing experience is not a must-have.
- This position is based in San Francisco.
Previous analysts have gone on to join other leading venture funds and become executives at portfolio companies. Our goal is to professionally train and prepare you for any challenge.
