Venture Capital / Growth Equity Associate

Venture Capital / Growth Equity Associate Role:

Sopris Capital is currently seeking an individual with 2-4 years of professional experience to join the firm’s Associate program.

The Associate Program offers a rare opportunity for highly motivated candidates to develop a robust investing and operational toolkit. Associates are deeply integrated into all facets of growth investing at Sopris, from sourcing new deals, investment due diligence, and portfolio company management. The Associate Program offers unparalleled development opportunities as Associates will develop relationships and lead critical workstreams in partnership with founders, management teams, and Board Directors.

The position has an immediate start date and will consist of a two-year term.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with new deal sourcing and evaluation
  • Support investment due diligence and deal execution with activities including financial model buildout, scenario planning, market and competitive research, deep-dive unit economics analysis, PF cap table modeling, and more
  • Contribute to portfolio management activities including cap table management, financial modeling, board meeting participation and ad-hoc analysis and support

Qualifications:

  • Recent college graduates (2020-2023) with a degree in Finance, Economics or a related field
  • 2-4 years of prior work experience in Investment Banking or Investment Management (Private Equity, Growth Equity, Private Credit, or Venture Capital)
  • Highly proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Exceptional communication skills; ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and succinctly
  • Exceptional financial modeling skills and attention to detail
  • Experience researching industries and analyzing market trends
  • Strong understanding of accounting concepts and business valuation fundamentals
  • Strong interest in venture capital and healthcare investing (prior experience in healthcare is a plus, but not a requirement)
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status
