We're expanding our international ecosystem platform in Tokyo/APAC and are seeking an Associate to drive community initiatives, content creation, and service offerings while supporting the investment team.
Role Overview
As an Associate, you'll enhance Headline's presence in the startup ecosystem through community events, resources, and content. You'll also support the investment team with research and due diligence on early-stage startups and help grow international participation in our landmark events like IVS.
Key Responsibilities
Community Building
- Design and execute exclusive events for founders and investors to strengthen Headline's brand.
- Network with participants to gather feedback and improve future events.
- Develop partnerships that support portfolio companies and elevate Headline's global profile.
Content Creation
- Produce blog posts, interviews, and case studies on startup best practices and venture trends.
- Develop playbooks and guides on fundraising, scaling, and cross-border expansion.
- Assist in crafting content strategies for Headline's online presence and PR initiatives.
- Initiate new content concepts like podcasts, blog series, events, and workshops.
Ecosystem Development
- Create and maintain resources for portfolio companies and the broader ecosystem (e.g., cloud credits, SaaS discounts).
- Build partnerships with accelerators, incubators, co-working spaces, and other startup resources.
Investment Analysis
- Identify and evaluate potential investment opportunities through market research.
- Analyze business models, financials, and competitive landscapes of startups.
- Support portfolio companies by connecting them with resources and mentors.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of the startup ecosystem with a passion for helping founders succeed.
- Experience in community building, partnerships, or event planning.
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills; experience creating content for startup audiences.
- Entrepreneurial mindset; proactive and able to own projects.
- Enjoys organizing and hosting community events.
- Collaborative; able to work cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners.
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in venture capital, startups, or relevant roles.
- Business fluency in English and Japanese; Mandarin proficiency is a plus.
