What is VT?

Ventures Together (VT) sits at the heart of the UK’s tech scene.  We are an exclusive community of 150+ of Europe’s leading tech entrepreneurs and operators, who have quickly become one of the most active seed investors groups in Europe, and one of the most sought after - investing in 160+ startups in our first 24 months.

Together we’ve invested alongside LocalGlobe, Index, Ribbit, Sequoia, Lakestar, Speedinvest, Earlybird, Connect, Episode1, LSVP, GV, Seedcamp and many, many more. We’re currently investing in ~100 new startups a year.

How VT Works

As founders ourselves, we know how painful it is to fundraise.  We built VT to help the best founders get investment quickly and easily from many of the best operators in the ecosystem - without having to pitch them each separately.  On the flip side, we’ve enabled operators to invest in amazing companies and build diversified portfolios with less time and capital.

The process is as quick and simple as a single angel working solo. We don’t set terms, or take board seats. Ultimately our aim is to be - pound for pound - the most valuable investors on a startup’s cap table at pre-seed or seed stage.

We source opportunities through our close connections to VCs, as well as through our community and are able to diligence them incredibly fast using this network.  Our aim is to continually identify, win allocation and invest in the absolute best companies raising each year in the UK, Europe and beyond.

The Team

We are a small team with clearly defined roles. We run a weekly cadence (we invest in ~2 companies each week!) and are a well-oiled machine. We work remotely, but take time to come together to connect and sync.

The Role

  • Initially a 12-month contract to cover parental leave, with the possibility of converting full time at the end of the 12 months
  • Reporting into our Founder, Tom.
  • Responsible for driving the operations of the business - this is a senior role. You’ll own the week-to-week cadence of the business, and tackle larger key projects too.

Week-to-week:- People - run 1:1s with each member of the team to ensure they are on top of their work, with the right support from you to do their best work- Planning - you’ll own the weekly sprint planning process and quarterly roadmap- Finances - review monthly accounts and provide feedback to Flinder, oversee payables, receivables and report on cashflow weekly- Legal - you’ll approve minor amendments/questions from founders relating to our agreement documents to ensure things aren’t held up.- Meetings - you’ll help run all hands, as well as being a host of any member events we run

**Key Projects:**

To be discussed - projects could be focused on:

- Operations (automations, software decisions, process audits);
- Knowledge (data, insights);
- People (external network development; Internal role development & mentorship);
- Legal/Compliance

  • This role is not responsible for Deal Sourcing & Investments. This is not an “investor” role, though you will be plugged into the ecosystem and might be hearing about hot investment opportunities at pre-seed/seed.
  • The role will be UK hours (though we are open to remote +1hr from the UK). This is a 5-day / week role.

Candidate Profile

  • We are not prescriptive and understand that a great candidate can come from anywhere.However, we believe the following key attributes & experiences will significantly increase your ability to succeed in this role, and as such we’re prioritising those who demonstrate:
    • Seniority - you’ve spent at least 4 years at or around the top-table, driving business progress & accountable for the results, while managing a team. This is not a Founder’s Associate role.
    • Systems Thinking - you think in and build out systems. In solving a problem you recognize the underlying system, then focus on improving the system itself to fix the true cause of an issue, automating where appropriate.
    • Low Ego + “In the Trenches” Mentality - you’re happiest when getting your hands dirty and executing. You focus on executing in the highest-leverage way possible, rather than sitting around contemplating strategy at a high level.
    • Unflappability - when chaos & change are the norm, you are the essence of calm. You help others work through problems in a methodical & considered manner. You know it’s about the marathon, not the sprint.
    • Working at Pace - you get an astonishing amount done each day. You know what the big rocks are, and fit the sand around it. You eat the frog.
    • Remote Working Mastery - you’ve managed teams remotely & have best practices + tools to build our culture.
    • Founder Fundraising Empathy - you’ve worked with Founders in their earliest stages (or raised as a Founder yourself!). You can empathise with how much of a pain fundraising is, and understand the value Angels can bring in early-stages.

Nice to Haves:

  • Familiarity with our systems - specifically Airtable, Notion, Stacker, Xero
  • Experience & familiarity with early-stage fundraising & angel investing - you’ll understand why our members love SEIS, the difference between a SAFE & a priced round, and what we mean by a long-stop. You’ll know what sectors are hot right now, and know who’s investing in those areas.
  • Community-building experience - you’ve built and/or scaled a community-driven business (either simply via Slack / Discord / mailing lists, or through more complex means).
  • Well networked within the UK / European early-stage ecosystem - you have a black-book full of founders, operators, angels, VCs, etc., and have people you can easily ping for a quick question / favour / perspective / intro.
