Hometeam Ventures is an early-stage venture capital firm based in San Francisco, CA. We aim to close the housing gap by investing in early stage founders bringing breakthrough technology to one of the world’s largest but least digitized industries: construction & housing. We invest at the earliest stages with $250K - $1M checks, customer discovery support, and access to our network of AEC professionals and business owners.

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and intellectually curious graduate student or early career professional to join Hometeam Ventures for a 6-month fellowship. This fellowship provides practical exposure to venture capital and perspective into the innovation for the construction and housing sectors. Your role will involve leading thesis development through strategic research projects, portfolio data management, scouting, and diligence on active deals.

Main Responsibilities include

(1) Conducting strategic research projects: Undertake research activities to evaluate Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) market needs, identifying new investment focus areas. 50% of the Fellow’s committed time will be dedicated to strategic research projects.

Past research projects include:

• Technology adoption within the housing market
• Underfunded sectors within the construction and housing sectors
• DNA of successful founders
• Impact of sustainability regulations on construction technologies

(2) Portfolio Data Management: Maintain crucial portfolio data across various platforms and contribute to quarterly reports.

(3) Scouting and Diligence: Screen, source, and evaluate new investment opportunities within the AEC space, with a focus on early-stage ventures. Contribute to the due diligence process. Join the team in meetings with founders.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a graduate program in business, finance, or AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction). We are also accepting applicants who are actively working in the AEC sectors with 3+ years of experience.
• Attention to detail and intellectual curiosity.
• Interest in learning more about the AEC industry and venture capital.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Preferred: Experience within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industries, and familiarity with research and data analysis.
• No previous venture capital experience required.

Term

Hometeam Ventures plans to bring on one fellow starting in early September 2024. This fellowship spans from September through late March 2024, requiring a commitment of 10-15 hours per week.
