Ajinomoto Corporate Venture Capital is hiring Technical Venture Fellows
Ajinomoto CVC invests in startups on behalf of Ajinomoto, a $10B revenue technology leader in amino science. We partner with transformative companies that advance new ways to extend health span, develop new approaches that change the ways information is processed, and answer complex challenges in sustainability.
The Technical Venture Fellow is a nine-month program that offers a unique entry into the venture capital industry through deal sourcing, due diligence, market research, and participating in comprehensive portfolio reviews. The role is based in Palo Alto.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Highly motivated scientists or engineers passionate about deep tech and venture capital. Successful candidates will be a PhD candidate, postdoc or an advanced master’s student with technical proficiency in one of the following technologies and applications:
- Life science: regenerative medicine including gene & cell therapy; precision nutrition
- Deep tech: chemistry and materials; computing including optical and electrical components; human-technology interfaces
- Climate: energy generation and storage; carbon management
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Intellectual curiosity with strong research abilities
- Superior communications and reporting skills
- Self-driven, adaptive and collaborative team player
- PhD candidate, postdoc, or an advanced master’s student with a technical focus (biotechnology, chemistry, engineering a plus)
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performing scientific and market research to help identify new investment trends and research and innovation opportunities within a focus area
- Deal screening, analysis, and documentation, including identifying and interviewing potential portfolio targets, analyzing comparative technology and science, documenting call notes and evaluation into CRM
- Generating intelligence reports for innovation and executive teams
- Participating in venture ecosystem events and expanding Ajinomoto network
- Nine-month fellowship. Exact weekly hours to be determined based on individual circumstances
