We’re hiring a former founder to join the investing team at Outlander VC.

We’re looking for an experienced founder who’s interested in making the jump to venture. The main requirement is that you’ve built or led a startup that successfully raised at least a Series A. If you've also sourced or made early-stage investments (even as an angel), that’s a big plus. What matters most is that you’ve been in the trenches, know what it takes to scale a company, and are now ready to help others do the same.

You’ll be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and executing Pre-Seed and Seed investments, and supporting founders as a trusted strategic partner.

We invest across sectors, but we’re especially excited by candidates with expertise in Deep Tech, AI, Infrastructure, Hardware, Energy, Aerospace, or Defense. If you have the rigor of an investor, the grit of a founder, and the drive to help identify and back world-changing companies, we’d love to meet you.

Candidate Profile

Title: Junior Partner or Partner (based on experience)

You must have been a founder or key leader at a startup that raised at least a Series A. Ideally, you also have some experience with angel or VC investing.

You bring the analytical mindset of an investor and the hard-earned wisdom of someone who has lived the founder journey. You know how to spot greatness in other founders because you’ve been one yourself—and you’ll bring the empathy, credibility, and strategic clarity that helps us win competitive deals and support our portfolio with confidence.

Key Responsibilities

Sourcing & Investment Execution

• Proactively source and build relationships with high-potential early-stage founders.
• Own the deal process from first call through Investment Committee with minimal oversight.
• Lead due diligence, market and competitive analysis, and financial modeling.
• Write clear, concise investment memos and present recommendations.
• Negotiate and structure investment terms.

Portfolio Support

• Join boards and advisory groups as needed.
• Act as a trusted advisor to founders, helping with fundraising, go-to-market, hiring, and strategy.
• Monitor performance and help drive follow-on investment decisions.

Ecosystem Building

• Build and maintain strong relationships with other investors, accelerators, and top-tier founders.
• Represent Outlander at industry events, conferences, and forums.
• Help build the Outlander brand and contribute to our thought leadership efforts.

What We’re Looking For

Founder/Operator Background (Required)

• You founded or played a senior leadership role at a venture-backed startup that raised at least a Series A.
• You understand firsthand what it takes to scale a company and support founders under pressure.
• You have a strong network in the startup ecosystem.

Investor Rigor (Preferred but not required)

• Ideally, 1–5 years as a Principal, Junior Partner, or angel investor.
• Familiarity with venture deal structures, competitive landscapes, and go-to-market strategies.
• Experience sourcing or supporting early-stage investments is a plus.

Strategic, Execution-Oriented Mindset

• Strong written and verbal communication skills; you’re a natural storyteller and persuader.
• Self-starter who thrives in high-autonomy, high-accountability environments.
• Confident decision-maker with high EQ and analytical depth.

Critical Thinker: You have the ability to dissect a situation and/or problem to then seek out answers/ask the necessary questions to find a solution. You can independently think through problems considering prioritization, efficiency, tech-automation possibilities, etc.

Thrives in Unstructured Schedules/Environments: You are able to organize your own work schedule and can be relied upon to get the work done. You do not require set and/or structured working hours.

Does Not Rely on Positive Affirmation: You can complete work without the need for constant compliments and accolades.

Team Player: You work well with others, have a positive mindset, and are willing to lend a hand with tasks that are outside of your "normal duties."
